For certain client's, chronic pain becomes the central theme in their life and pain relief their primary focus of day to day activities.  Chronic pain is often misunderstood by health care professionals because it can give the appearance of "attention seeking", "drug seeking", or, when no physical cause can be identified is attributed to "psychological factors".  This course review causes of chronic pain and gives practitioners some guidelines for assisting clients in applying principles of pain management.
