Although
most professionals come to the job intending to "do the right
thing", there may be times when the right thing isn't so obvious.
A code of ethics provides us with standards and guidelines for how
to conduct ourselves and how to evaluate the behavior of our
colleagues. This course will review the NASW Code of Ethics
and its application in a variety of real world situations.
For certain client's, chronic pain becomes the
central theme in their life and pain relief their primary focus of
day to day activities. Chronic pain is often misunderstood by
health care professionals because it can give the appearance of
"attention seeking", "drug seeking", or, when no physical cause can
be identified is attributed to "psychological factors". This
course review causes of chronic pain and gives practitioners some
guidelines for assisting clients in applying principles of pain
management. |
