Overview:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is arguably the most time-tested, widely applied, and well researched form of effective therapy in the behavioral healthcare field.  This training will review the critical elements of the well known Beck CBT model in the service of equipping practitioners to support and enhance staff using CBT in their everyday work.  Particular emphasis will be on methods for dealing with hallucinations, delusions, agitation, and mood swings, affect control problems, impulse control problems including addictions, and problems in the therapeutic relationship related to the above.

Participants will be able to:

1) Identify the 4 key elements of cognitive therapy according to the Beck model;

2) Identify and discuss the critical elements of CBT with ACT staff;

3) Identify and discuss building blocks of CBT supervision skills when working         with ACT teams; and

4) Identify techniques to reinforce and encourage ACT staff CBT practice with         ACT consumers.
