The Michigan Association of CMH Boards is pleased to announce a call for
presentations for the 2010 Annual Fall Conference.
Conference Goals:

*To focus
attention on programs that effectively combat stigma in the general
public.

*To highlight
programs that enhance ways to sustain relationships with community
members.
-
*To foster peer
networks around shared roles, interests and goals.
-
*To address the
impact of current budget and policy issues on the delivery of services
to persons with
mental illnesses, developmental disabilities and substance use
disorders.
-
*To increase
participants’ awareness, knowledge, and skills, related to mental
illness, developmental
disability and substance use disorders.
-
*To promote public
awareness of mental health issues and reduce stigma associated with
mental illness,
developmental disabilities and substance use disorders.
-
*To increase
understanding of healthcare reform and how it will effect Michigan
Educational Tracks:
Proposed presentations should relate to the conference goal and address
current issues and initiatives in one or more of the following educational
tracks:

Relations/Anti-Stigma

Consumer
Integration and Relationship Building, Empowerment and Peer Services
·
Integration of
Mental Health/Substance Use Disorder Care with Primary Care
·
Public Policy
Advocacy

Conference Attendance:
The fall conference attracts more than 700 attendees. We bring together
board members, CEOs, COOs, CFOs, medical directors, clinical directors, case
workers, supports coordinators, and children’s supervisors from Michigan
CMHSPs and Provider Agencies. We also have strong attendance from others
within the public mental health system.
Submission Guidelines:

Complete
[electronically] the Call for
Presentations
Submission Form and save it as a document. Refer to the example to
ensure that your form is filled out appropriately.
·
Include a
resume/curriculum vitae for each presenter.
·
Workshops are
generally 90 minutes; a small number of double sessions may be considered.
·
Submit all
material by July 26, 2010

Criteria for
evaluating the proposals will include:
1) The learning
objectives are clear; 2) the proposal addresses issues of concern to the
target audience; and 3) the proposal reflects educational tracks in this
call for presentations.
Presenters will be
notified about their selection by August 6, 2010.
The conference budget
will support modest honorariums for plenary speakers; however we do not
provide honorariums for workshop presenters. Presenters will receive a
complimentary conference registration for the day of their presentation.
Due to the high cost of travel, MACMHB is not able to reimburse workshop
presenters for mileage. If presenters are not able to participate due to
lack of reimbursement, special arrangements may be made with MACMHB when you
are notified of your accepted proposal.
